Google Freebase closes in 2015. All data is transferred to Wikidata

The creators of Freebase , an open knowledge base purchased by Google, reported that the base will be closed. However, they promise to close them very gently and carefully: the data will be transferred to Wikidata , the community of authors will try to integrate there too. In the official blog, the developers list deadlines and possible difficulties that will be faced during the migration. However, the message contains a lot of good news, for example, a promise to develop the Google Knowledge Graph API.

Due to the fact that many facts in Freebase were taken directly from Wikipedia, you can’t just dump the Freebase to Wikidata. One of the basic principles of Wikidata is to have links to reputable sources. The creators of Freebase will provide the tools to check the data for the presence of links using Google Search and even the mysterious Google Knowledge Vault .

June 30 site and API Freebase will be removed. At the moment, the base contains 46 million objects and almost three billion facts.
