Effects for an electro-acoustic guitar without an external amplifier

Prototype, intermediate and final version of devices.

An interesting project for guitarists is currently raising money for Kickstarter. The ToneWoodAmp device connects to the output of an electro-acoustic guitar, and creates various sound effects that do not need an amplifier - the device itself is attached to the back of the guitar body with magnets, and all the effects are created by the vibration of the body itself. Thus, the guitar turns into a combination of guitar, amplifier and "pedals".

Operating principle

Among the effects are tremolo, echo, reverb, delay. In addition to the built-in effects, it is possible to connect the device to the iPhone and take advantage of the additional effects available from the application. The device will cost $ 110 for those who supported it on Kickstarter, and $ 199 for retail customers. While it is planned to begin shipping devices in June 2015.

Available effects on the device

For owners of conventional acoustic guitar, the device makers offer pickups to convert it into an electro-acoustic device (piezo for nylon strings and magnetic for metal) for an additional fee.
