Nikolai Nikiforov
, Minister of Communications and Mass Media,
spoke at the opening of the
OS Day scientific-practical conference on current issues of operating system development. The event was held on December 11 at the Institute of System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISP RAS).
The head of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of Russia spoke about the results of a dialogue with the IT industry on the development of Russian competitive products in the OS and system software market: “All market participants agree that it is pointless today to start developing system projects from scratch, no matter what kind of operating systems we are discussing. We need to build on the existing developments. "
The minister said that at present, together with the industry, mechanisms of state support for such developments are being worked out, but he stressed that support cannot be addressed to only one enterprise: “It is necessary to develop a model in which a number of market players consolidate their development efforts. As a result, a basic product arises, which the participants of the association - both public and private developers - can subsequently develop and commercialize as part of their larger projects. ”
