In early December 2014,
a study of the availability of films in digital form, which could be legally purchased in the UK, was
published . The study was conducted by the auditing company KPMG, one of the
Big Four companies. It was commissioned by NBC Universal in order to study the legal market for video materials and show the public how easy it is to stop being a “pirate” and start buying movies online completely legitimate.
The study was conducted in December 2013. 756 popular films and 27 video services were reviewed. It turned out that out of the total number of films available, at least one of the services was viewed at 86%. Among them: 100% of box office hits of 2012, 98% of hits of 2011, 77% of hits of 2013. At the same time, of the films reviewed, only 73% were available on at least five different services. As for the television series, only slightly more than 70% of the popular hundreds of TV shows were available on at least one of these services.
It turns out that law-abiding lovers of UK movies and TV shows, who decide to watch a TV series or movie, will have to remember a lot of passwords. But some films, they still can not get legally.
