The most popular illegal content: torrent tracker rating

One of the largest torrent sites, ExtraTorrents , which has been operating since 2006, recently presented the top 20 most downloaded files in its competition according to its statistics. At the competition with the drawing of prizes, it was necessary to guess which positions would be included in this rating. The winner guessed only seven positions, which is not surprising, since the list looks quite unexpected. For example, the first three places are taken by music (more precisely, rap and hiphop). It is also worth noting the presence in the 5th place of The Expendables 3 - the film leaked to the network 3 weeks before going to the cinema, in connection with which Stallone did not hesitate to blame the pirates for his failure at the box office.

The list shows that to compile a rating of all times, without taking into account the fact that the number of users grows every year - incorrectly. For a serious study it is necessary to give weight to the number of downloads depending on the year. At least in ExtraTorrents, by their admission, they were not too lazy to combine downloading several variants of the same content into one.

The first three places are occupied by songs and dances of black representatives of American culture (and indeed, the overwhelming majority of items belong to the USA). Next, along with music albums and compositions, there are loud Hollywood blockbusters of recent years. Of the melodious music, only eccentric French electronics technicians Daft Punk got into the top, and the interesting guests of the list were Kick (“Kick”) - the Bollywood blockbuster (Bollywood masterpieces in recent years have almost overtaken Hollywood films - take at least the Robot movie "2010; and what fun they are, they are just a song), and a parody on the screen version of the Avengers comics (in which, I believe, the Avengers are discovering new ways of punishing the villains).
