The construction of an extremely large European telescope will no longer be postponed. The project of its construction in the Atacama desert was adopted two years ago, but construction is only
beginning now, thanks to Poland. The country has made such a sum of money that the telescope is now funded by 90%. At the first stage, the dome and the structure itself will be built; it will take 10 years and 1 billion € ($ 1.24 billion). The second phase will include the addition of parts of the main mirror and optical systems that remove the effect of fuzziness from the planet's atmosphere. The developers are waiting for Brazil to join the financing of the second stage.
It will be possible to explore space with the help of this telescope before construction is completed, after the first stage - in 2024.

The main instrument of the
observatory in the Chilean Atacama desert will be a telescope with a segmented mirror with a diameter of 39.3 meters, which will allow to collect 15 times more light than the existing telescopes. The level of detail will be better than that of the orbital Hubble: they use an optical system that corrects the effect of fuzziness due to work in the Earth’s atmosphere.

At the same time
, construction of a telescope a little less
began in Hawaii in October - its mirror has a diameter of about 30 meters. He should earn by 2022.

Even earlier, in 2021, they plan to open the
Giant Magellan telescope with a 24-meter aperture. So in six or seven years we will receive much more interesting photos from the expanses of space.
