Photo from the recent sprint of the KDE PIM team in BarcelonaHello!
For the first time I write on
Habr Giktayms, since the resource split occurred. The fact is that at the moment and until January 15, 2015, KDE is conducting a
campaign to raise funds for the development of the project. It's no secret to anyone that there are quite a lot of people sitting on Giktimes who actively use KDE in their life and work. The developers of this organization work for free and from year to year give you releases of the K Desktop Environment, as well as a lot of other applications that find their application.
Last year, KDE spent € 30,000 on transport and accommodation for developers, which were obtained from more than 100 donators. This is necessary for the so-called sprints. “Sprints” are
IRL programmer meetings that are very important for volunteers around the world to combine their efforts and discuss the technical details of the development process. Practice has shown that the impact of such "sprints" is of paramount importance for developers and users of software. The rest of the money goes to supporting the infrastructure: KDE supports a large number of sites of various community projects, code, tools for continuous integration, etc. For more information on where the money goes, you can find out in the
quarterly reports .

We know that free software developers should, after all, be supported. By the way, if you donate more than € 30 to the bag, you will receive one of the remarkable company postcards, and if you spend € 100, you will have a personal tour of one of the cities: Barcelona (Spain), Bürgdorf (Switzerland), Nijmegen (Netherlands) , Nuremberg (Germany), Pune (India), Toulouse (France), Washington DC (USA).

P.S. I apologize in advance if this post does not fit into the Geektimes format, but I thought that this imperceptible, seemingly news, needs publicity.
