GTA 5 banned in Australia because of the murder of prostitutes

Kmart was the second largest retail chain to withdraw Grand Theft Auto 5 from sale in Australia.

“Kmart apologizes for not having studied in detail the content of this game,” a company spokeswoman said in an official statement.

Previously, a similar decision was made by the Target chain of stores. This became possible after the online petition , under which more than 40,000 users subscribed, appeared.

The petition says that the spread of a game that encourages sexual abuse and incites the killing of women is unacceptable.



“In the game, you get personal experiences of this kind of sexual abuse,” said Kmart representatives, “and when this abuse turns into a form of entertainment, it causes more pain and harm.”

At the same time, there is a scientific study that does not make a connection between the game in past versions of GTA and real violence in the offline world. But the author of this study says that the latest version of GTA has significantly improved the quality of graphics, increased realism, and the new first-person game mode helps to draw parallels with the offline world.
