Attack of drones: in half a year in the US, UAVs almost 25 times collided with airplanes

On Wednesday, the Washington Post reported that the Federal Aviation Administration received more and more complaints from pilots and air traffic control personnel. Subject - unmanned vehicles that fly dangerously close to the aircraft. From June 1 alone, pilots reported a possible collision 25 times .

95% of the world's population are idiots. And if high-tech flying machines that cost 300-400 dollars fall into their hands, then there is more harm from such people. On New Year's Eve many will receive Ar.Drone 2.0 and will start flying near the airports and above the filled stadiums. Thanks to these clever people, soon the United States will introduce laws regulating the use of quadcopters and the requirements for their pilots. And rightly so, given the number of possible accidents involving these toys for adults.

Since June in the USA, 25 complaints from pilots about dangerous proximity to aircraft have been registered. On June 1, the quadcopter flew 30 meters below the Boeing 767, which at that time was making a flight at an altitude of 550 meters. On June 25, another pilot approaching the landing reported a drone flying 50 feet from its right wing. Extremes put people's lives at risk, which completely explains the desire of the US authorities to control such flights at the legislative level.

If pilots are dangerous to others, then they pose an even greater threat to themselves. In 2013, a 19-year-old teenager died in a park in New York from his own Align T-Rex 700N DFC helicopter. The blades cut the blood vessels in the neck, and the teenager bled out. The wingspan of this gadget is 1.4 meters.

For many years, lovers launched airplanes into the sky and even used them for the same purposes as drones are now using. And there were no collisions. First, airplanes and helicopters were expensive, and secondly, it was difficult to fly. And, thirdly, people were guided by the common sense of the Academy of Model Aeronautics . Today you can buy a powerful device with an integrated camera for less than a thousand dollars (thanks to Parrot for that), without having any experience in managing it - because it is not required. The results of indiscretion (or idiocy) of quadcopter owners can be disastrous - as long as there were no real cases, you can look at this bird.
