Google launches Contributor, a crowdfunding service to support publishers.

Now advertising from your favorite site can be removed for a dollar a month.

Google has big problems with content providers (media and blogs). There are two main ways to monetize websites: advertising on the page and the paywall (paywall), a paid subscription to access content. The first is annoying, the second does not give access to anyone. Google Contributor combines the merits of both ways.

The user can choose how much he wants to donate - 1, 2 or 3 dollars per month. The subscribed user will no longer see ads on the publisher’s site, to which he donated money. Speech, most likely, is only about advertising affiliate programs "Google". The money will be distributed through adsense.

Instead of ads will display a message of thanks. In some versions of the site banners will be removed altogether.

So far, not everyone can use the service. Of course, almost nothing will stop browser extensions that cut ads, but Google Contributor provides an alternative to such a radical way of solving the problem of annoying banners at the expense of the site owners.
