Last year, students of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR)
won the qualifying stage of the Robocup Japan Open 2013 - the football championship for humanoid robots. The students of the laboratory of robotics and artificial intelligence of the Institute of Innovation TUSUR won the discipline of 3D Simulation Soccer, that is, in a competition of programs for controlling 3D simulations of robots.
Now it's time to take the next step. In Tomsk, they started the creation of the first in Russia team of real football robots.

The team consists of two strikers and a goalkeeper. Currently, software for players is being created in TUSUR. So far it includes only basic functions. “Our players can find the ball on the field, make movements behind it and make strikes. The tasks that need to be solved in the coming months are localization of players, steady movement, various ball strikes, coordinated actions of football players, ”said Yevgeny Shandarov, head of the robotics and artificial intelligence laboratory at the Innovation Institute of TUSUR, in a
commentary to TASS.

A successful game in 3D Simulation Soccer has shown that Russian students are fully capable of fighting for the title of world champions not only in simulation, but also in the most prestigious cyber-football discipline.
