On November 14, nexus owners started receiving OTA firmware updates. Yes, the very Android 5 Lollipop, which everyone was waiting for.
I do not pretend to have the most complete overview of the new system, perhaps someone will find it subjective and so on, I just tried to show the first feeling after upgrading to a new version of the system. What made us update? Honestly - this is the best Android design I've ever seen. There were some clear frames, boundaries that allow applications to look really cool.

First surprise
The main thing that meets you when you turn on the phone is the unlock screen. Big notification dies ... If earlier you could see a whole cloud of icons in the status bar, now there’s not much of them. Well, okay, but it looks beautiful.
We are trying to unlock the phone. Stop. We have the same dies. And I have a pin code. And this means that now to unlock, you need to make not five touches (dial four numbers, confirm input), but a gesture and five touches. Agree, it is not very convenient, considering that I have already got used to the past unlock screen at least from the fourth android. Even beautiful circles bubbles when pressed can not get rid of this discomfort. For comparison, it looked like this:
Silence time
Good. We unblocked the phone, we saw that the volume is at maximum and we are trying to turn it down. Stop again. And where is my silent mode?
Google decided to make a fundamentally new notification system. There are three types of modes: “Do Not Disturb”, “Important,”, “All”.
When you select Do Not Disturb, the sound is muted. Totally. Even the alarm clock will not ring.
In the "Important" state, the sounds from the applications will not be played and you can specify which types of events to voice: "Events and reminders", "Calls", "Messages". Alarm clock - an important alert, you can not turn it off. I am glad that you can configure the inclusion of this mode on a schedule - I set that the phone was silent at night. If you turn off all the sliders, then it will completely fall for the analogue of the “Silent” mode.
Well, “Everything” is all notifications, which is quite logical.
Notification bar
It is also very beautiful and, one can say, finally a functional thing.
Swipe down the status bar:
And then down the panel itself again:
The tiles could have been bigger, okay. To change the brightness, you still need two movements, but now they can be more messy.
Little things that are not small things
Now open any application.
For most non-black programs, the statusbar is now painted in its main color! (Yes, yes, and not a bit like iOS).
In general, the animations have become more beautiful, although, due to the transition to ART, they are slightly less smooth.
And when you click on any item in the lists from him circles circles bubbles.
Multitasking
Much can be said about this part of the system. For example, what became beautiful, but the transition to the desired application was a little longer. Although very impressive.
Afterword
Of course, the system is still damp, much needs to be redone / returned. Hopefully, Google will listen to users' advice (although not sure, looking at the same control of the LED and status bar tweaks) and return silent mode.
Impressions of Android 5.0 Lollipop are mixed, but generally positive.
