Despite its small details in the form of drawings that bring the game closer to the legendary comic of humor for xkcd geeks, SineRider was created not by Randall Munro, but by Christopher Walker. Work on the project has been going on at least since the summer of this year.
The game owes its creation to the hours spent by the author on the construction of graphs of functions on the TI-86 graphing calculator. SineRider is written on the Unity engine, which allows you to run it on
Windows ,
Linux and
OS X , as well as
play it directly in the browser with the
Unity plugin installed.
The rules are extremely simple: each of the levels is a mathematical task that needs to be solved by setting a function with the desired schedule. The function is given from x and from the variable t, which is the time after launch.
')
The goal is to sled down the slope of its schedule, which will require an excellent knowledge of the forms of functions or work it out during the game. Two little people on a sleigh obey the basic laws of physics.
At the same time it is necessary to bypass all designated areas. Some areas need to be circumvented in a specific order. In some areas, you need to stand a certain number of seconds. Some areas may move.
In order to save reader traffic from mobile devices, original animated GIFs will open by clicking on their static image.
The functions of the lightest levels look very simple: you just need to specify a straight line with a certain bias, or Y = t.
But not all levels are so simple, so you have to turn on your head.
The author did not stop only on the game. It is possible to boast time by sharing the solution in the form of a link, for example,
like this .
You can create your own tasks and share them with the help of the URL.
SineRiderGame.com . The current version of the game is not final, the author is still developing and adding new modes, sometimes showing them in the
project's microblog .
