"Feminists" brought one of the leaders of the Rosetta mission to tears

Matt Taylor is one of the brightest figures of the Rosetta mission. You must admit that it is not every day that people see physics with tattooed hands on TV. So, a couple of days ago, after the landing of the Philae module, a scandal began, known on Twitter under the tags #shirtstorm and #shirtgate.

Poor Matt just put on this shirt:

What followed the tweet of The Atlantic @roseeveleth

And then the real persecution of the guy began, not only on Twitter, but also in the media. He was accused of sexism, called a woman-hater, then the charges went to the entire scientific community. In the end, yesterday, during a briefing, the poor fellow made an apology, barely holding back tears. And I do not think that these were tears of repentance, rather tears of insult. They put the probe on the comet! And people made a fuss over the shirt he wore! World has gone mad.

(There is an opinion that the guy is even cooler, and just everyone is strung out. But then it’s worth discussing the fact of the conflict.)

Is this normal, and why the physicist has no right to wear everything he wants?

Answering a question in facebook The Wal Street Journal, how in the scientific community took his tattoos, Matt said:

People with whom I work judge me not by my appearance, but by what I do or can do. That's all.
(Yes, these are small advantages of work in science - no dress code).

Personally, it hurt me. Persecuted man, because the shirt did not like. Interestingly, did they themselves even tear a tear, looking at her? Calmly sleep now?

It should be noted that hatreds, such as a desire to be raped, also fell on @roseveleth. All this is not good, and just as fucking as cries at Matt. In both families, not without a freak.

By the way, the shirt is a gift from a friend. Handmade.

I am not at all against feminism, but this case is not feminism, it is insanity and harassment. With whom he is called to fight in general. Why did the struggle for equality turn into the persecution of men?

What does the community think about this? It is interesting to listen to the opinions of girls, especially from the STEM community, does this shirt touch them and what do they see as problems for themselves in a scientific career? Do you face discrimination?
