Fila probe put to sleep

Probe "Fila"

The European Space Agency ESA tweeted that all the Fila probe systems were put into sleep mode, as the battery charge is running out.

Despite the difficulties encountered, the ESA evaluates the operation as successful. In addition, although the device is put into sleep mode, data transmission to the ground using the "Rosetta" is still ongoing.

Scientists do not exclude that the device will be able to wake up if it gets enough charge. Let me remind you that “Fila” had certain difficulties when landing on a comet: during landing, the harpoons, which were supposed to fix the probe on the comet, did not work. In this regard, the probe bounced off the comet's surface, and landed a second time. However, the second time he sat down not where he had planned, and found himself in the shadow of a cliff, which did not allow him to receive enough solar energy (he has the ability to charge only 90 minutes every 12 hours).
