From 0 to 100 km / h in just 1.785 seconds on the Grimsel electric car
A joint team of students from the University of Applied Sciences Lucerne (Switzerland) and ETX Zurich (Switzerland) created a high-speed electric car, which set a new speed dial record. From 0 to 100 kilometers per hour, this electric car, called the Grimsel, accelerated in just 1.785 seconds.
The previous record was 100 km / h in 2.134 seconds, and it was supplied by the electric team of the Delft University of Technology in 2013. ')
The set record is now ratified by the Commission of the Book of Records.
Development lasted about 12 months. The team - 30 students of the above-mentioned educational institutions. The body is made of carbon fiber, and its weight is only 168 kilograms. Wheel rims are also carbon fiber, tires have a width of 190 mm. Power of the electric motor - 200 horsepower, which is quite decent. Rather, there are only four motors for each of the wheels. The power of each of the motors is 50 horsepower, with the transfer of torque of 1,630 Nm to the wheels of the electric vehicle.
Virtual build Grimsel
It is worth noting that the Grimsel needs an electronic traction control system with performance tracking and control of each of the motors. This will further improve performance.
The electric car was created for a reason, it was developed in the framework of the international competition Formula Student. More than 500 teams participated in this competition, and the Grimsel team (team name - AMZ) became the winner. Out of 1000 possible points, the team scored 920.
