Rosette Mission

On March 2, 2004, the Rosetta spacecraft began its ten-year flight to comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko. November 12, 2014 Rosetta will perform a maneuver on the transition to the path from which the descent vehicle will be separated. At 08:35 UTC, at a distance of approximately 22.5 km from the center of the nucleus of comet Rosetta, the Phila landing gear will be sent in free flight. The landing will take place after seven hours, at about 15:30 UTC, after landing it will attach to the surface of the comet using harpoons. Both modules will continue to move along with the comet for a month to the point of its closest approach to the Sun. But who better to tell us about the history of comets, if not the grandfather of Rosetta and Fila, Giotto?
