By car - to the sky

At the Pioneers festival in Vienna, the AeroMobil 3.0 all-terrain flying car was presented.

10 months ago, AeroMobil co-founders - Stefan Klein and Juraj Vaculik presented a rough prototype of their AeroMobil 2.5 device. After this time, they developed and built a more beautiful, and most importantly, a fully functional prototype of a multifunctional vehicle.

Says Klein: “I am happy that we were able to achieve such progress in such a short period of time with a team of only 12 people. AeroMobil 3.0 is not the end of the project, it is only the beginning of a new adventure that can change our understanding of transport in the future. ”

Vatsulik: “I believe that AeroMobil will inspire non-standard ideas in the field of private transport. He can take the idea of travel to a new level. We want to reinvent the flying machine without limitations and make its use enjoyable and joyful, using our unique technical designs and designs. ”

Project history

The car has been developed since 1989 - it was then that Stefan Klein, the founder and head of the Department for the development of transport at the Slovak Academy of Fine Arts, began developing his concept. In 2010, Klein joined forces with Vaculic and founded the company to commercialize the project.

In the summer of 2013, a significant event took place - work was completed on the current prototype AeroMobil 2.5. He was certified in Slovakia in the class of ultra-light aviation, and included almost all the technical developments that must be present in the final product. It was used for testing and optimization, and officially presented in Canada at the AeroTech exhibition.

Current state

From October 2014 a seriously revised prototype, AeroMobil 3.0, is being tested. It is already close to the final product, and even built from the same composite materials that are planned to be used for mass production. It contains all aviation equipment, autopilot and parachute release system. Now it is used both for testing and for promotional purposes.

The goal of the project is to make a product that can be officially registered and used in the European Union in the class of both M1 cars and light sports aviation (LSA).

The size of the car is about a large premium sedan. The developers claim low-cost maintenance, the ability to park in ordinary parking spaces, the use of standard gasoline instead of kerosene.

The device has a variable wing geometry, which allows to increase the efficiency of take-off (and reduce the length of the runway) and a reinforced suspension, which allows you to land on rough terrain.

Information obtained from the press release of the company.
