The founder of Tesla and SpaceX thinks globally, and his projects now are global too. Journalists of the Wall Street Journal learned that Musk and Greg Weiler (ex-head of the project to develop a network of Google satellites) are negotiating with the authorities of Florida and Colorado about the possibility of building a satellite manufacturing factory in this region.
The project is at a very early stage of its development, and so far its concept is not completely clear. Nevertheless, the journalists managed to find out some details of the project. Yes, and Greg Weiler is the founder and current head of WorldVu Satellites, which develops small communications satellites. So, in general terms, the purpose of the project is clear.

The partners' current plans are to launch 700 small communications satellites, weighing about 113 kilograms (the usual mass of a communications satellite is several tons), into orbit of the Earth. The approximate cost of each of these satellites is $ 1 million, and SpaceX will launch the satellites (and there’s no intrigue, Mask has everything under control, as they say).
When creating a satellite manufacturing plant, Musk will use some of the best practices from its current projects and companies (including Tesla and SpaceX).
Greg Weiler, according to him, offered the same plan to Google, but stopped working with the search giant after several months of cooperation, because "he was not sure about the quality of the technical and technological (production) expertise at Google."
The goal of the project is to provide access to the Network to users who are currently in the most difficult to access to create a network infrastructure.
As you know, Google and Facebook are now also working on a similar project, planning to use drones, communication satellites and aerostats. If at least one project is implemented, all the inhabitants of the planet will be able to access the Network, no matter where they are.
