Space X's Spaceship Dragon spacecraft successfully completed its fourth mission



Spacecraft Dragon private company Space X completed its fourth cycle of work with the ISS and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean. On October 25, the ship was disconnected using a 12-meter manipulator, after which the team sent the Dragon to Earth.

Dragon was created to transfer research and space cargo samples from the International Space Station to Earth. On October 25, the space truck last took the cargo from the ISS and was sent by astronauts Reed Weisman and Barry Wilmore to the final journey. To detach Dragon from the cargo compartment of the Harmony ISS module, the crew used a 12-meter grab arm, which is remotely controlled.

The space truck on the night of October 26 fell into the sea off the coast of Mexico. Dragon delivered about 1.5 tons of cargo from the ISS to Earth, which will be sent to a port near Los Angeles. SpaceX specialists will use the ship in the future to create an improved model based on it.

Under the contract with NASA, 8 more flights will be conducted until 2016 (altogether, 12 of them should be completed under the contract with NASA, 4 have already been completed). NASA has already announced a competition among private companies, which will last until November 14. The essence of the competition, the essence of which is already in the delivery of goods to the space station. The contract with Elon Musk was made until 2016.

The winners of the new competition will be awarded a contract from 2017 to 2020.
