It's no secret that now 3D Realms is officially called Apogee Software, Ltd. (not to be confused with Apogee Software, LLC, which in 2008 separated from 3D Realms and which owns the rights to the brand, logo and collection of Apogee programs). Confused, isn't it? But this is not the point: the main thing is that 3D Realms comes back again, having collected an anthology of 32 games, among which come true real retro pearls.
In the 90s, 3D Realms were doing well, which is not the next decade. The main achievement of the company - Duke Nukem - was the cause of its collapse: unable to complete the work on the infamous Duke Nukem Forever, in 2009 it had to close. However, at the beginning of this year, 3D Realms began to show signs of life again - after its acquisition by Interceptor Entertainment, a company recently known for working on the Rise of the Triad remake and the suit filed against Gearbox.
Even then, it was clear that 3D Realms was going to surprise with something and now it became clear exactly what it was: she was going to surprise with what surprised many years ago. In particular, this time it releases 3D Realms Anthology - a collection of (almost) all the masterpieces of 3D Realms, including the soundtrack “Re-rockestrated”. The anthology included: ')
Alien carnage
Arctic Adventure
Bio menace
Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold
Blake Stone: Planet Strike
Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy
Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
Crystal caves
Death rally
Duke nukem
Duke Nukem 2
Duke nukem 3d
Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
Hocus pocus
Major stryker
Math rescue
Monster bash
Monuments of mars
Mystic towers
Paganitzu
Pharaoh's tomb
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
Realms of chaos
Rise of the Triad: Dark War
Secret agent
Shadow warrior
Stargunner
Terminal velocity
Word rescue
Wacky wheels
Wolfenstein 3d
Some things from this collection are unlikely to be particularly interesting to most gamers, while some, by contrast, are sure to be a success. Unfortunately (and for no apparent reason) Max Payne and Prey were not included in the anthology - although, perhaps, they are simply too new for her (or perhaps they belong to Rockstar a little).
Anyway, the games are launched through the game manager specially developed for Windows, so there should not be any compatibility problems; and all this pleasure costs only $ 20. Interested? More details at 3DRealms.com .
