Estonia will allow to receive electronic citizenship for 50 euros

E-estonian is not a parody of the Estonian accent, but a real opportunity to enjoy the privileges of e-citizenship of a European country for foreigners: yesterday in Estonia a law was unanimously introduced introducing e-residence status, allowing any foreigner to open an account in Estonian bank, register a company and use an electronic signature to sign documents from anywhere in the world.

In the e-citizen brochure they write that while obtaining e-citizenship will require at least one visit to the Estonian police: to take pictures and leave fingerprints. The decision on the submission of e-residency will be made within two weeks, after which you will need to pay a one-time fee of 50 euros. There are no other payments - not counting, of course, the tariffs of the services that the “electronic resident” will use (banks, etc.). The profit of Estonia in this case is clear: to attract more foreign money to their banks.

The law enters into force on December 1, 2014. By the end of 2015, the same service is promised to begin to be provided in Estonian embassies. You can get acquainted with the electronic opportunities that Estonian citizens have and will appear with e-citizens on the e-estonia.com website. The passport of the e-citizen will be a smart card. The Estonian government expects that by 2020 they will acquire 5,000 people.
