Roskomnadzor may receive the right to request information about the correspondence in the mail of Yandex, Mail.Ru and Gmail

The authorities of the Russian Federation want to give Roskomnadzor the right to request information from Internet companies on the facts of receiving, transmitting, delivering and processing electronic messages of Internet users without a court decision . This provision is provided for by a draft resolution of the government of the Russian Federation, developed by the Ministry of Communications and published on the Single portal for posting information about regulatory acts.

“The subject of the events is to check whether the organizers of the dissemination of information fulfill the requirements for storing information about the facts of receiving, transmitting, delivering and processing voice information, written text, images, sounds or other electronic messages of Internet users and information about these users,” the document says.

The authority to control this initiative is vested in Roskomnadzor, which “establishes the facts of activities to ensure the functioning of information systems and (or) programs for electronic computers that are designed and / or used to receive, transmit, deliver and (or) process electronic messages of users Internet ”, - noted in the decision.

The document provides Roskomnadzor with the opportunity to request information from the hosting providers, domain name registrars and other persons about the organizers of information dissemination without a court decision.
