The same Liberator
Quite a long time ago, a post was published on Habré about an American project - a “Liberator” pistol that can be printed on a 3D printer. Shortly after the dissemination of information about the project, others appeared similar. But soon, many US states adopted amendments to the law on weapons that covered the legal possibility of printing pistols and other firearms (although most of them apply only to weapons without metal parts, which makes it impossible to detect such objects with metal detectors at airports and other public places. ).
Nevertheless, the echoes of the main project live, and, of course, not all developers of such projects loudly declare them. True, there are exceptions to the rule: 28-year-old Yoshitomo Imura created 2 pistols, printed them on a 3D printer, and distributed information over the web, uploading a video. Soon he had to regret it.

The fact is that according to the laws of Japan, his actions violate a number of laws. Of course, ignorance is no excuse, and Yoshimoto was fully convinced of the validity of this statement. The inventor was arrested, and after a short trial he was sentenced to 2 years in prison. The verdict was made on Monday.
Not paying attention to the claims of lawyers that the defendant did not even suspect a violation of the laws, the judge pronounced the conviction.
As for the United States, in some countries it is still possible to “print” weapons on a printer, at least in some states, if any iron parts (even a metal ball) are embedded in plastic. But with the proliferation of drawings Liberator authorities are pretty tough fight.
