WebMoney got sanctioned in Ukraine
The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine has compiled a new sanctions list for Russia, which entered into force by presidential decree of May 14 and will be valid for 3 (three) years.
The list was 756 points . In addition to WebMoney and all its subsidiaries and representative offices, such companies were included in it:
Regarding WebMoney, the sanctions include restricting trade operations, blocking company assets, preventing the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, suspending the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations, restricting or suspending licenses and other permits, and blocking access to the company's websites and subdomains by providers.
By the evening of May 24, a large number of online stores had already turned off the possibility of buying using WebMoney, and some users experienced errors in the service.

In 2013, the tax has blocked WebMoney.UA accounts and accused of violations of work in the market of Ukraine. The company challenged the decision in court, after which in 2015 it received a license and was entered in the registry of the NBU. Later, in 2016, the NBU banned banks from using WebMoney, since this payment system does not have a regulator's license, but it was noted that the ban does not apply to the WebMoney.UA domestic payment system.
On October 17, 2016, payment systems and services were also blocked in Ukraine: Kolibri , Zolotaya Korona , Unistream , Leader , Anelik , Blizko and others.

On May 15, 2017 , a similar list was also drawn up for Yandex , Mail.Ru services (including VKontakte and Classmates) , Doctor Web , Kaspersky Lab , 1C, and others.

Dear our users, partners, colleagues!
WebMoney.UA has been working in Ukraine for 15 years, conscientiously observing all the requirements of domestic legislation.
The result is unconditional leadership in the Ukrainian non-bank payment market, 4 million users, many victories in consumer preferences ratings.
Obviously, the activities of such a significant player in the market could not fail to attract the attention of individual representatives of the authorities who tried by any means to block the operation of the system in Ukraine and channel the funds of our users to the financial flows they need. Today’s events make us remember 2013, when the decision of the criminal power of Yanukovych blocked accounts in the system. Obviously, nothing has changed since then: we are still seeing how, in the absence of any legal basis, by a purely political decision, they are blocking the work of the system.
For us, this decision of the authorities was an absolute surprise, because WebMoney.UA carries out its activities in full compliance with the current legislation of Ukraine, relying on a carefully constructed legal framework. This is evidenced by numerous court decisions, because, working under the constant pressure of officials, we have always defended the legality of our work in the legal field, including in the courts of all instances. But we see that when a business fails to be “squeezed out” legally, political leverage comes to help officials. Thus, hiding behind the interests of the state, it is very simple to “clean out” the market, pursuing its financial interests.
Of course, none of those officials at the same time took care of the interests of 4 million ordinary Ukrainians - system users whose money is now blocked by this irresponsible decision.
In this difficult situation, we appeal to our users and partners and ask them for understanding and support. Now all the actions of our employees are aimed at solving these problems in the legal field. We want to protect our honest name and legal position in the judiciary and not only Ukrainian, because we do not exclude that there will be political pressure on domestic judicial bodies.
We assure you that we will do everything possible to protect the interests of our users and to fulfill all the obligations of the system to them.
