In the published response of the messenger to the notice of Roskomnadzor, it is noted that Telegram has two types of messaging: cloud chat and secret chat. “Messages transmitted via“ secret chats ”are never stored on Telegram servers. The correspondence of users of “cloud chat” is stored in encrypted form, distributed between different subsystems and is never stored in one place, ”the letter says.
“Creating“ secret chats ”begins with the generation of an authorization key, using asymmetric encryption and the Diffie-Hellman algorithm, in which one of the two key parts created never leaves the user device and is not transmitted via communication channels. At the same time, encryption keys are regularly updated, irrelevant keys are automatically destroyed, - explained in a letter signed by attorney Dinze D.V. “Thus, the service administrator in the existing architecture under no circumstances has access to information enabling decoding of received, transmitted, delivered and (or) processed electronic messages”.
