Roskomnadzor launched blocking hundreds of thousands of Amazon IP addresses

On the evening of April 16, it became known that Roskomnadzor added more than 600,000 Amazon IP addresses to the unloading of the registry of prohibited sites, which telecom operators use to block such resources. Information about this appeared in the channel Vladislav Zdolnikov.

An activist of the Anti-Corruption Foundation draws attention to the fact that today providers received unloading with records of 52.58.0.0/15, 18.196.0.0/15, 18.194.0.0/15 and 35.156.0.0/14. Thus, in the first three unloading records, 131 thousand addresses are mentioned, and in the fourth - another 262 thousand. The total number of IP, which should block providers is 655 thousand.

"Telegram began to deploy mechanisms to circumvent locks based on Amazon, and they just took and wiped out more than half a million IP addresses," Zdolnikov comments on the situation.

An unofficial copy of the unloading of the registry of prohibited sites can be found at this link . A separate court hearing was not held on this case, but the decision with the number 31.27.2015 / Id4082-15 was indicated as a justification. This number refers to the decision of the Tagansky Court of Moscow to block the Telegram.

In addition to Amazon, blocked and IP Google. Currently, 1,048,574 Google IP addresses are blocked: subnet 35.192.0.0/12. In total, the unloading for providers contains 1,834,996 addresses from subnets belonging to different companies. Perhaps new IPs will be added soon.

The blocking led to unexpected consequences. For example, services of large retail companies, banks from top-20, private clinics do not work or partially work. On Monday evening, the ticket booths in Dixy stores in Moscow stopped working, which could also be due to blocking a huge number of IP addresses.

The head of department, Alexander Zharov, confirmed the blocking of IP addresses of Amazon: “We have unloaded the Amazon subnet, which Telegram has switched to. The fact is that the third paragraph of the court order instructs Roskomnadzor and other legal entities not to create conditions for technical access to the blocked messenger. ”

By the way, not so long ago, Roskomnadzor had already entered Amazon’s IP addresses into the registry of banned sites, but then all this was due to the desire to block the Zello “Internet radio”.

Today Roskomnadzor began a technical procedure for blocking Telegram. The messenger or its individual functions ceased to work for users from different regions of the Russian Federation, but then the majority of Telegram functionality was restored. What happened and how long this situation will continue is difficult to say.
