On the night of April 26-27, a small incident occurred in RuNet. The bots that monitor the fresh unloading of the registry of prohibited resources from Roskomnadzor
signaled that IP addresses belonging to the Yandex corporate network, Yahoo, Odnoklassniki Co Ltd, MSK-IX, JSC Search Technologies and many others got into it (a total of 176 addresses from different owners). As the quick search showed, the domains of the social networks Yandex and Odnoklassniki, as well as several other major sites, re-address these IP addresses.
Despite the deep night, commotions began in social networks: “Yandex, Yahoo and Vkontakte gentlemen are still full. Sorry, I did not expect this. Add to whitlist. Stock up on nuts, ”
wrote Alex Rudenko, author of the telegram bot RKNSHOWTIME, which interactively broadcasts the“ show ”from Roskomnadzor.
In the morning after the incident, Roskomnadzor finally
published an explanation of the causes of the incident. It is very succinct:
"The short-term entry into the register of individual ip-addresses was due to the technological features of the system"
Independent experts put forward different versions of what happened. For example: “While everything looks like this. A regular user (an employee of the RKN?) Connected to a sniffer in the RKN, which is automatically added to the unloading address of the calls of a device connected to it with the Telegram running, connected with some device, and the sniffer simply added all the addresses to which the user’s device accessed. This is a department filled with monkeys with grenades -
the user
writes @ unkn0wnerror - This is all very similar to the results of the attempt to get traffic from some device, and that they did not check the addresses. These idiots ruin our lives and break the Internet. ”
')
“These addresses have not been sent to telecom operators to restrict access,” emphasizes Rokomnadzor.
On the 12th day of blocking, the official position was expressed by Yandex: “The attempt to block Telegram in Russia suddenly became a blow to the entire RuNet. The lock affected not only the messenger - many resources and their users suffered. We do not consider this situation normal, the press service of the Russian company
wrote . - Last night, five Yandex IP addresses suddenly appeared in the RKN registry. Our addresses stayed in the registry for about two hours, at the moment - the IP addresses from this list are gone. The shift of our technical specialists on duty throughout the night quickly monitored the situation and supported the full availability of our services. We are waiting for clarification of the RKN.
But if such errors are possible, what can we expect in the future? What else can they accidentally block, some users wonder. Maybe we should expect the appearance of "white lists"? Initially, the regulator may present them as caring for users so that such incidents do not recur, that is, in order not to accidentally block these sites in the future.
UPD. Roskomnadzor
stated that foreign hosting providers are guilty of mass disruptions of Internet services, who continue to provide Telegram their services, thereby "deliberately hindering the execution of the decision of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow."
