Heavy industry removal

Even traditional, heavy industries, such as construction, are transforming business models through digital ecosystems. The Swedish construction giant NCC, through the development of an internal startup, has developed a peer-to-peer application for quick deals on secondary building materials.

The Swedes combined in one application Loop Rocks supply and demand for materials appearing as waste at construction sites - soil, debris, rubble. The manufacturer of such waste notes the presence of this good at the construction site and quickly finds consumers. The transaction takes place without intermediaries, through a simple application, with minimal transport costs, immediately from the place of extraction of soil to the construction site where it is needed.

The application was launched in June 2016. Today, with the help of Loop Rocks, more than 1 million tons of building masses have already been moved, 2,500 Swedish users registered in the application, who work at more than 600 construction sites throughout Sweden.

In the meantime, steel mills are awaiting similar convenient and simple applications for quickly collecting scrap metal at its place of origin. How many more industries are waiting?
