70% of Internet traffic in America is legal video
The publication Business Insider drew attention to the study of Sandvine , which is engaged in the production of network equipment. The company's specialists studied the nature of Internet traffic around the world and concluded that the video services traffic, such as Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Video, plays the leading role in it. In America, the share of this traffic has exceeded 70%, and this figure has increased at least twice over the past five years: then its value was 35%.

The most popular video service in the USA is Netflix with 37% of traffic. Almost half the service from Google is inferior to it - YouTube has a share of 18%. AmazonVideo closes the top three video traffic generators with just over 3%.
Interestingly, there is probably some connection between Netflix and BitTorrent, which is considered the main source of illegal content: peer-to-peer traffic is only 5% and continues to decrease because its share was 7% a year ago. It can be assumed that the availability of legal video from Netflix is just the reason for reducing the use of BitTorrent and, as a result, of pirated downloads.

Among the regional leaders, two mobile applications were noticed: Instagram and WhatsApp. The first is very popular in the Middle East and has 10% of the traffic, the second, thanks to the introduction of the possibility of voice calls, has the same indicator of popularity in Africa. It is noteworthy that both applications belong to Facebook.
