How not to work with time zones or Aeroflot-Fail

I recently decided to purchase Aeroflot tickets. The idea itself is suspicious, but I decided to make it worse: I downloaded their mobile application for android and bought everything there. I ordered a ticket from Barcelona for February 27, departure at 23:45, and was very surprised when, after payment, the tickets for February 28 fell to me with the departure at 23:45 and the arrival on March 1. How so, could I not be so rude?



I carried out excavations that showed that the error was in the mobile application, went:

We have the official version in our hands, we will try to issue another ticket for the same dates, making a screenshot at each step. Select dates, return February 27:

With the ticket THERE is all right, it is issued without errors, the problem is only with BACK, and only for the night flight:

Here the problem begins, the departure date suddenly becomes February 28 at 23:45, arrival is also 28 but at 6 in the morning, the time machine is straight! Unfortunately, when I bought my tickets, I missed it, and just went into the booking and payment:

When we are ready to pay for the tickets, we see the correct date of departure BACK TO - February 27th. On the possible problems says only the price of the ticket, which suddenly dropped compared with the previous step.



We will not pay for it now, because everything is just for the sake of the experiment, so we close this window and just go to the “My Reservations” section to see what we are actually paying for. The reservation has already been formed and is visible in the list as “UQSNTG:

And here we suddenly find that the date of departure has shifted by the day! I found this after the payment, by phone Aeroflot was ready to change the date only with a commission (about 2500r per ticket), offered to leave the claim on the site. Of course, I left the claim, it took 4 days without any reaction, but this is not surprising: the claim review period is 30 days.



Why did this happen at all? February 27 in Barcelona is winter time, and at the time of buying a ticket - summer. At one of the purchase steps, the gallant developers get an extra hour, and the departure date jumps for a day (departure time is 23:45), after which they substitute the time from the schedule to the found date. It also means that from October 29, the bug will stop playing because Barcelona will switch to winter time. The easiest way to eliminate the error is, of course, to ban daylight saving time in general, the development of Aeroflot is likely to go exactly this way.



The error is reproduced on other dates, for example, with the departure on October 30. This departure is less than 2 weeks later, and the complaint consideration period is the same 30 days. The error is reproduced only in the mobile application for Android, for iOS I did not test, on the Aeroflot website the purchase is correct.

Important update : Aeroflot Company today contacted and changed the departure date Back without penalties. They promised to "work on the application."
