This morning, December 13, 2016, the user GitHub XXXXX (the nickname is hidden on request) decided to remove the xash3d repository fork from the FWGS organization, which has no rights to change the settings of the repositories. In the confirmation field, he entered XXXXX / xash3d to remove his fork. After that, GitHub redirected it to the page of its fork, and the main repository was completely removed.
After contacting technical support, the repository was restored, but all the forks were broken. The repository itself after recovery is shown forked from the repository of another GitHub user, who turned out to be the first fork of the affected repository. The tech support stated that it is not in their power to change the master-slave. In addition, all releases on the repository are no longer working, all the “stars” are saved, but are not displayed in user profiles.
After treatment, the error was promptly corrected, so attempts to remove torvalds / linux or Microsoft / dotnet will not succeed.
