New Information Society Development Strategy

Good day. Without much noise and dust, yesterday, May 9, the President of the Russian Federation signed the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 9, 2017 No. 203 “On the Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in the Russian Federation for 2017–2030”.

In the Strategy approved by the decree there are many interesting points, but the most interesting, perhaps, is the point about excluding anonymity on the Internet:

34. In order to develop the Internet and the information infrastructure of the Russian Federation, the following activities should be carried out at the international level:

e) create new partnership mechanisms designed with the participation of all institutions of society to develop a system of trust on the Internet, guaranteeing the confidentiality and personal safety of users, the confidentiality of their information and eliminating the anonymity , irresponsibility of users and impunity of offenders on the Internet;
