This year, the computers of metropolitan officials will necessarily begin to install the browser produced by Yandex, the city news agency Moscow has
reported . This was during an interview with the agency told the deputy head of the department of information technology in Moscow, Andrei Belozerov.
The conversation touched upon the issues of informatization, the transition to domestic software and progress in this direction. So, besides the attempt to abandon Microsoft products and the transition to the My Office product, Belozerov spoke about the contract with Yandex, according to which Yandex.Browser will be implemented at the workstations of Moscow officials on a mandatory basis.
“At the moment, Yandex is refining the browser to our requirements. The browser is tested in terms of stable operation with all city information systems. I hope the process will be completed within a few months and then the product of Yandex will be installed on the desktops of the officials in a basic manner, ”said Belozerov.

The official noted that information security is an important aspect for state institutions: many operations are carried out in the clouds and data transfer to a third party is unacceptable for them. Apparently, Yandex and its server are not considered as a “third” party by the Moscow government.
One of the drivers of informatization and the transfer of officials to work at computers is the forced electronic document flow, which leaves no choice - one has to learn.
In recent years, state organizations of various levels have been actively introducing domestic software in accordance with the relevant policy of the Russian government. At the same time, the possibility of purchasing foreign software in the presence of Russian counterparts is legally restricted, and the latest innovation is a ban on the renewal of previously acquired licenses, as
Rostelecom did at the end of 2016.
At the same time, representatives of state corporations say that domestic software packages are still too raw and often do not meet the requirements of users and businesses.
It is likely that if the experience of Moscow colleagues will be recognized as successful, the distribution kit of Yandex.Browser for state institutions in the foreseeable future will be able to become the default browser on the computers of officials across the country.
