Chrome, Firefox and Safari blocked direct access to The Pirate Bay

Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers block direct access to The Pirate Bay torrent tracker, showing a message about a potentially dangerous site. This usually happens when a user tries to go to a malicious site (for example, a phishing resource) that collects user data, or offers to download malware to the user's PC.

About the same thing happened with Kickass Torrents about a month ago, when all three browsers showed a similar message for three days when the user tried to switch to this torrent. The administration of the resource reported that this happened because of the window confirming the transition to a third-party resource that pops up when the user tries to leave the site. True, The Pirate Bay has nothing like that. And the cause of the problem is still unknown.

Most likely , the reason is that somewhere on the site there is a link to a malicious resource. It is possible that this is an advertisement that is spun on The Pirate Bay, leads to such a resource. So, two weeks ago, Malwarebytes discovered a malicious ad that redirected users to a site with exploits that download Cerber users (cryptographer) to PCs.

The three browser headers show the following warnings: “Deceptive site ahead” (Chrome), “Reported Web Forgery!” (Firefox) and “Suspected Phishing Site” (Safari).

Users can skip the warning window and follow the link, so that The Pirate Bay remains available.
