Let's Encrypt finished beta testing and already issued 2 million certificates

The number of HTTPS certificates issued by the Let's Encrypt free automatic receipt service grows exponentially: in early March it issued a million registrations , and on April 21 their number already reached two million . In addition, the service is out of beta testing and is available in production mode.

The project's management also reported that its main sponsors, Cisco and Akamai, extended their support for another 3 years, and among the new sponsors are Gemalto, HP Enterprise, Fastly, Duda and ReliableSite.net.

Some certificates are issued not for one, but for several domains, as a result, the number of domains covered by the project is already close to 4 million. In the .ru zone, as of March 2016, the project issued a little more than 6,000 certificates.

Let's Encrypt is a non-profit project that was launched last year and set as its goal to provide all interested domain owners with free SSL certificates. From the moment of its official launch, any administrator will be able to obtain a certificate and configure its support on its server using an automatic utility.
