Snowden criticized Hillary Clinton for using an unprotected mail server.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Edward Snowden made fun of Hillary Clinton, who as US Secretary of State, for some reason decided that her personal mail server was reliable and she could send emails with information of national importance through it. This story with the seemingly "advanced" candidate for the presidency of the United States led to the fact that Mrs. Clinton is the person involved in the investigation of a special commission, which understands whether the American secrets have become the property of completely outsiders.

Snowden said: “If ordinary State Department officials or the CIA ... sent out details about the embassy security system, which probably were in her [Hillary Clinton] letters, about personal meetings and conversations with government and foreign officials, such officers would have to not only losing his job, but also, very likely, should have been responsible for this before the law. ” All the more surprising, adds Snowden, that an official of such a high level as the Secretary of State must understand how to properly deal with state secrets.

Edward knows very well what he is talking about. He himself used the mail service Lavabit, which provided client encryption of the correspondence, thus excluding the possibility that the secret services could read their letters, which with a high degree of probability have access to the data of ordinary mail services. In 2013, Lavabit ceased its work, and its founder was forced to very briefly explain the reason for this, citing laws passed by the US Congress.

Interestingly, Hillary Clinton first spoke about Snowden in a tough manner, and then significantly softened her rhetoric about his action. Last year, she said that a runaway NSA officer should have the right to publicly defend his position and return home, having received the appropriate security guarantees. Later, Snowden, through his lawyer, voiced his plans himself, saying that he would like to return home, counting on a public trial.
