Washington Post, the administration of the US president is working on a draft package of unprecedented sanctions against China. This step will be the response of the US authorities to the cyber attacks conducted by China on US government agencies. According to Washington, Beijing is behind the organization of the attacks. The final decision on the imposition of sanctions has not yet been made and is expected within two weeks.
“If we impose sanctions on China, then the chances of an“ Act of retaliation ”from the PRC are high,” commented Jeffrey A. Bader, the main adviser to the US president for Asia from 2009 to 2011.
Developed by the administration of the President of the United States, the sanctions will be directed, first of all, against companies and individuals who will use the stolen information, including commercial secrets, in the course of their trade-economic or production activities.

In early July of this year, the US authorities acknowledged the fact of conducting a large-scale cyber attack on US government agencies, as a result of which unknown persons took possession of personal data of more than 21.5 million Americans. Another attack allowed the data to be stolen by another 4.2 million people. Also, the social insurance numbers of each federal employee of the country fell into the hands of hackers. Responsibility for the attack of the United States imposes on the official authorities of China, which, in turn, does not confirm their involvement in the incident.
Back in early August, the New York Times
suggested that diplomatic methods were ineffective in this case because of the scale of the attack.
