Symantec: in June, for the first time in 12 years, spam accounted for less than half of all emails

The amount of spam continues to decline. According to Trustwave, in 2008 it accounted for 90% of the total mail volume, and in 2014 - 69%. According to the new Symantec report , in June 2015 the number of spam does not exceed 49.7% of all emails. In April, the figure was 52.1%. Symantec reports are based on data from the company's customers - about 2% of the total anti-virus market.

Spam volumes have been falling for the past few years. Causes are the subject of controversy. The harassment of spam by the authorities is hampered by low fines, but spam filtering is gradually taking players out of business. Organizations like Spamhaus are trying to fight spam and become objects of revenge from spammers: in 2013 Spamhaus made the largest DDoS attack in history , wrote The Verge.
