The decision was made by the US authorities, who are still trying to extradite Kim Dotcom, the creator of Megaupload, from New Zealand, where he is now. The company's servers were removed, and about a dozen of them, including the domains of subsidiary services, were hung on the Megaupload domains.

However, some time ago it turned out that the stub disappeared, and the domains now lead to advertisements of various kinds of fake antiviruses and other types of malware. As far as you can understand, the US Department of Justice lost control of its former name servers, which allowed attackers to use their own goals.

Now, by the way, some domains that previously belonged to Dotcom and are related to Megaupload can already be purchased.

So did, for example, the company that purchased the domain Megabackup. The company itself is engaged in providing services for creating and storing backups, everything is clean, no spammers or creators of malware-software.

However, domains such as megacar.com, megagogo.com and megapix.com are also sold. The latter, for example, can be bought for $ 35,000 at Sedo. The company HugeDomains, which is now selling megagogo.com, announced that the domain was intercepted by the company after the registration period expired, no one has just renewed it.

According to Torrentfreak reporters, the clerks of the US Department of Justice are no longer here. Most of the current domains previously linked to Megaupload were simply not officially withdrawn by the government, so everything is clean. There is already a mistake of a person from the Kim Dotcom team, someone just forgot to renew the registration.
