ProtonMail out of the shadows

ProtonMail crypto- mail, which was launched a year ago by engineers from CERN, went out into a public beta: protonmail.ch/sign-up All accounts registered before June 17 will receive 1024 MB of storage space.



Due to the still limited server space, on June 17 or when the volumes run out, registration will be closed again, and future accounts will receive only 500 meters of mail per brother.

Now half a million people have already registered in the mail. According to the founders, for the last year the service was unavailable for only 12 hours - mainly, for reasons of scheduled maintenance, there were no cases of data loss of users or hacking mail. In ProtonMail, two-level authorization: after login to the system, a password is required to decrypt the contents of the box. You can change it, but the existing encrypted mail content will be lost. Therefore, in order not to forget the second password, it is better to write it down - for example, on a sticker - and attach it to the monitor of your desktop computer!
