The program will protect your computer from physical abuse.

The user hephaest0s posted on GitHub the sources of the usbkill project written in Python. The program resides in memory, checking USB devices connected to the computer. As soon as she detects changes in the connected devices (the flash drive is removed), she immediately turns off the computer. Why might such an unusual behavior be required?

Suppose you are looking for the FBI, the NSA, the CIA, or any other three-letter agency, and you fear that government agents will grab your working laptop right out of your hands. Then, if it remains in an unblocked state, no data encryption program will simply help. This is exactly how Ross Ulbricht punctured - FBI agents unexpectedly snatched a laptop from him in the library while he entered the Silk Road administrator's account .

To ensure that the computer does not “fall asleep” as much as possible and does not lock, there are even special mouse handlers that emulate mouse and / or keyboard activity. In addition, if you are somewhere in a public place, and be too lazy to turn off the computer once again, moving away from it for a second - you will give the attacker a chance to install some malicious program on it.

And now, thanks to hephaest0s, it is possible to protect the computer. You can, for example, tie a cord from a flash drive to your wrist. As soon as the distance between you and the computer suddenly increases, the flash drive leaves the USB socket, and the computer turns off with lightning speed, keeping your secrets safe in itself.

Of course, a more elegant solution would be to use any kind of wireless tag on Bluetooth - but such devices still need to be searched.
