A Californian programmer named Patrick (he hides his last name) had a great joke on the Tinder dating site. By manipulating the software interfaces, he made the men flirt with each other. At the same time, everyone thought that he was talking to a beautiful girl.

The drawing is made as follows. First, create a fake female profile. The program then notes which men have set Like for these profiles and forwards their messages to each other.

The developer says that he himself was a regular user of Tinder and even met his current girlfriend there. The idea of ​​creating such a program was prompted by the frequent complaints of familiar girls that they were faced with indecent messages from men. Some are aggressive, others are obsessive.

In general, Patrick decided to “return the grenade back,” that is, redirect the message back to the male audience.



The programmer learned the Tinder API at the time when the bot was writing to broadcast messages on Twitter that his girlfriend received. Along the way, he found out that the Tinder API is extremely vulnerable.

Such “hacks” of Tinder have happened before: just remember the bot for high-frequency dating (automatic “Like” on all female profiles), leak of information about the location of users or another bot , recently launched by the creators of the sci-fi film “Out of the Car” ( Ex Machina) to advertise.

Patrick says that the men themselves are to blame for being the victims of the rally, they say, you don’t need to behave so aggressively and schedule dates for “girls” whom they don’t know anything about. But his position is not indisputable: after all, it is not good to mock people.
