On March 6, it became known that the
latest version of uTorrent secretly installs the bitcoin miner , but then the creators were sure that when installing the user they were asked to install EpicScale, and when uninstalling the program there should be only one file that serves to identify the user.
Today, the position of uTorrent developers has changed, as reported on the
uTorrent support forum :
Representatives of the uTorrent torrent client do not support third-party software installations that are unnoticeable to users, but consider the mission of Epic Scale, whose application contained a bitcoin miner, helpful.
According to one of the uTorrent employees, the company stopped releasing a version of its client with the built-in Epic Scale application on Friday, March 6, after a massive stream of complaints. He clarified that only 6% of users of the Windows client who installed it between mid-January and March 6 received such a version.
All user complaints were related only to the fact that, together with the uTorrent torrent client, the Epic Scale miner-bitcoin application was installed completely unnoticed. At this moment, it is not known whether Epic Scale required a hidden installation as a partner or it was an initiative of the creators of uTorrent themselves.

The representative office of uTorrent said that partnership offers are one of the main ways to make money for the project, provided that their program is distributed for free. Representatives of BitTorrent, the developer of the company, stressed that their policy prohibits the installation of third-party services seamlessly, and even the uTorrent installer application itself makes hidden installations impossible.
Be that as it may, uTorrent representatives apologized, but did not explain the reason why Epic Scale was installed without any notification. At the same time, the company offered to support the creators of the miner Bitcoins, which BitTorrent secretly installed on the computers of millions of users, as they continue to cooperate.
