The State Duma propose to restrict access to anonymous networks

Speaking at the Infoforum 2015 information security event, Leonid Levin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, made a proposal to limit access to anonymous Tor-type networks for Network users. According to Levin, such measures will help prevent the spread of prohibited information and various kinds of malicious software.

“The issue of pre-trial blocking of anonymizers and means of access to anonymous networks like Tor deserves attention. Perhaps this would not only allow restricting access to information that is prohibited to disseminate through anonymous networks, but also expand the possibilities for countering the commercial distribution of malware and illegal access to computer information, ”said Levin.

Actually, this proposal cannot be called unexpected - last year, at the RIW-2014 conference, Levin said that Internet regulation is inevitable, and this applies to both Russia and other states. Then Levin added that a number of countries are pursuing a rather aggressive policy in the sphere of Internet regulation, and Russia should be ready for its own actions in such conditions.
