Mozilla will help the Tor project and all users who want privacy.

In Mozilla seriously attended to the issue of user privacy. The browser already had a “private surfing” function, but the company decided to go even further. Their new initiative to improve privacy is called Polaris .

The first project under this initiative is a close collaboration with the Tor project. Mozilla confirmed the information we ’ve reported on — the organization will provide Tor with some high-capacity intermediate nodes so that the network works faster and allows more people to participate. In addition, it is known that the Tor project uses a version of the Firefox browser for its tor Browser, which they specifically patch to increase privacy and anonymity. These patches will now be considered by Firefox programmers, and if possible they will be included in the main browser branch so that the Tor browser is easier to release. The second, not yet named project is also a kind of tool for increasing privacy, and so far it is undergoing internal testing.

Mozilla, among other things, inspired the results of the Harris Poll survey, conducted in October 2014 at their request among adult Internet visitors. 74% of respondents believe that their personal data on the Internet have become less private than a year ago. Approximately as many consider that Internet providers know about their activity "too much".

The Tor project is one of the most popular methods of private and anonymous surfing, constantly gaining popularity both in connection with attempts by individual states to regulate citizens' access to the Internet, and in connection with total surveillance of citizens by special services.

Anyone can download the special Tor Browser for safe and anonymous surfing, as well as help expand the network by installing software for intermediate nodes.
