Russian authorities have prepared a "plan to protect the Russian segment of the Internet from external influence"

In Russia, a “plan has been prepared to protect the Russian segment of the Internet from external influence” (a plan for blocking the RuNet, if necessary, in simple terms). This was stated to journalists by the head of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, Nikolay Nikiforov.

According to the minister, quoted by the TASS agency, now joint actions are being discussed with the BRICS countries to protect critical areas of the Internet. “Such a plan exists, but it is always a process, because the threats and our responses to these threats are always improved, so we consult with our colleagues, in particular, from the BRICS countries, in order to work together to defend the position that critical elements of the Internet infrastructure do not depend on any external destructive effects, ”said Nikiforov.

According to him, a prepared plan for responding to attempts to disable the Russian segment of the Internet is technically developed. “There are very specific technical scenarios that allow even in the case of destructive external influence to resist the national segments of the network. And there are no restrictions with cross-border traffic exchanges, all these organizational measures are quietly implemented within the country, and we will implement such measures year after year, step by step, ”the minister said.
