Russian Post began to monitor their shipments online

On March 10, the Russian Post in its press release reported on the next stage on the path to improving the service. To control the movement of mail transport, the company has developed its own automated control system. It is already working on the main routes of the country, and will gradually be introduced to the regional ones.

A new online tool for managing road haulage has been developed by the internal division of Russian Post. It allows real-time monitoring of the movement of postal transport at sorting sites. The information obtained helps to correct the routes and delivery of postal cargo.

“We make our transport system more flexible and manageable. Thanks to the new service, we can quickly find and eliminate “bottlenecks” in the logistics chain of mail traffic, said Alexey Skatin, Deputy Director General of the Russian Post for Logistics. “Our goal is to shorten the delivery time of shipments to three days within one region, to five days between major cities of Russia, and to ten days between any settlements of our country by 2018”.

Now for the needs of the mail is used more than 17,000 vehicles. The total length of main and intra-site mail routes exceeds 2.8 million km.
