2GIS for Linux everything and for a long time

I have been using 2GIS for many years to orient myself in space. I was very happy when he appeared on mobile phones and was even more happy when I read this post about the beta version, which has an assembly, including and for Ubuntu.

For some reason, I use the most popular OS on a working PC and therefore there are no problems with offline 2g, and on my home PC (with Ubuntu 15.04) I was content with the online version. While it was not necessary with a laptop to go to the wilderness in a place with the Internet of dubious quality. In this situation, there was no doubt what to do and I switched to beta.2gis.ru , did everything according to the instructions, typed the cherished:

sudo apt-get install 2gis 

And stumbled over the message:

 The following packages have unmet dependencies: 2gis : Depends: libc6 (< 2.20) but 2.21-0ubuntu4 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. 

Of course, you could arm yourself with Google (or Yandex) and try to resolve this awkward situation, but as an amateur of the shortest paths, I wrote to the support and received in response the following:

This situation is due to the fact that the beta version of 2GIS does not support the current version of Ubuntu. Unfortunately, since February 2015, the development of a new desktop version has been frozen. We do not know when we will return to it.

When and if the development will continue, one of the priorities will be to make, in addition to the versions for common distributions, the so-called “recumbent” version. Most problems will solve this, including support for Ubuntu 12.04. However, absolutely all distributions will not support, because Qt is gradually abandoning support for older systems.

At the moment we are not only not working on updating the program itself, but we are not posting fresh data. For now, it is better to assume that we do not have a version for Linux, and use either the online version or (with the help of wine) the current windows version.
