Officials invited representatives of anonymizers to participate in the discussion of the prohibition of circumventing locks



On June 19, a special committee of the State Duma on information policy, information technologies and communications will hold an extended meeting, which is devoted to the consideration of legislative restrictions on access to illegal content, TASS reports . The format of the event is a round table, in its course the draft law “On Amendments to the Federal Law“ On Information, Information Technologies and Protection of Information ”” will be discussed.

Among the participants of the meeting are the head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, deputies of the State Duma, representatives of executive bodies, telecom operators, industry experts and specialists. Officials also invited representatives of anonymizing service representatives to the meeting, Vesti reports .

“We are confident in the committee that we need to discuss the initiative openly, with the involvement of a wide range of qualified specialists. Those people who are directly related to the issue under consideration can speak in the State Duma to publicly evaluate the pros and cons of the draft law, its weaknesses, ”said the head of the committee Leonid Levin.

The official declares that there are too many services like VPN and anonymizers to be able to communicate with everyone. Levin hopes that information about the meeting to representatives of such resources will help bring the media. “And if they (representatives of services, - ed.), Giving users the ability to access prohibited content, do not hide themselves, they will be able to make comments and recommendations. We hope that the opinion expressed by them will make the bill more technologically advanced in terms of the realization of its goals, ” said the deputy.

As for the bill itself, he proposes to establish a ban on ensuring the use in the Russian Federation of information and telecommunication networks, information systems and computer programs to gain access to information resources to which access is restricted in the territory of the Russian Federation.
